What's in your apps, Todd?

Todd Cadley explains why Noom, The Mirror, and Whoop have been instrumental in his physical health during this crazy year.

Earlier this year, I began work with an amazing executive coach - Leanne Smullen - who helped guide me on living a more fulfilling professional and personal life through mind, body, and heart. I can't say enough how invaluable Leanne has been in my development.

Part of creating that balance (of mind, body, and heart) is driven through a consistency with my physical activity. Like many, in the past I have gone in spurts, but never had the consistency required to make considerable change to my health. So I decided to set some new discipline across diet and working out, and it's the best I've felt in decades. Like Jocko Willink says, "Discipline equals freedom."

Here are some of the tools that have helped me feel better than I have in the past 20 years.

Noom - I needed help in learning what and how much I should be eating daily. You think you know, but until you start tracking food intake (that includes booze) and your weight, you're shooting in the dark. It really helped a ton.

Mirror - COVID made me and Sam look at our exercise now that gyms were out. After much research, we bought The Mirror and it has paid dividends! Instructors like Gerren Liles, Rachel Nicks, Katie Fogelson, and Chris Ryan deliver a complete, butt-kicking gamut of stretching, strength, cardio, pilates (yes, I do pilates!) and yoga. It's been an absolute game-changer.

Whoop - We all know that it's hard to judge progress if you can't measure it. Fitting on your wrist like a watch, Whoop tracks a number of factors, which then provides guidance on how hard (or light) you should exert yourself. It is highly interactive and provides a ton of education and information for you to better understand how your body reacts to a variety of items like, sleep, diet and alcohol consumption...

And these are just a few. There are others, but I think these got me to a place to better understand my growth through hard work, discipline and data. Most of all, the exercise has cleared my mind during this crazy, turbulent year.
