You know the story of the cobbler’s kids, right? Actually, the exact phrase is, “The shoemaker's children go barefoot.” I looked it up. “Cobbler’s kids” rolls a bit easier off the tongue, and well, you get it.
Truth be told, we’ve been putting our clients and their work ahead of our own for the past year. The website Sam and I launched a few years ago doesn’t reflect the company we are today. In fact, it’s not a story about a husband and wife any longer. It’s about a team of kick-ass people who all have different super powers and know-how to get sh*t done.
We quickly realized at the end of 2019 that we needed to show who Manual Labor truly is. Part of this is showing the great work we’ve done with good people (see what I did there?). And that mission hasn’t changed - in fact it’s gotten stronger. Same goes with how we help our clients - how we help connect those dots in a simpler way through great writing, design and orchestration.
With our new website, we’re putting a bit more meat on the bone, while keeping the voice of who we’ve always been (and will continue to be). And you’ll get to meet our team - those superheroes who continue to make us thankful everyday that we get to work with our friends. You know….good people. Part of our management strategy is to put smarter people around us, because we’re the first to admit we’re better as a whole than the parts.
Getting to know our team - and who we collectively are - is best shown through our WOW page. What does WOW stand for? It stands for, “WOW, holy shit, that’s cool.” And we lead with our heart and our head.
Sometimes you’ll see us give you our Spotify playlist of the month, or some of our favorite foods in our neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn. Sometimes you’ll see content that provides tangible takeaways for how to start measuring user experience at your company, or how to deliver quality communications during tough times. Regardless of the case, we knew generic thought leadership wasn’t enough; we wanted to provide tangible advice for companies, regardless of size or industry.
And this is just the beginning. We have our sights set for additional threads that help us show the ML way and how we can further our mission.
How can you help?
I thought you’d never ask! Tell us what you’d like to know more about. And that can be anything! And we may ask you for your help. No - we will ask you for your help. If you want to join our Good People network, shoot us a note and let’s connect!
So for now, like Dr. Dre said in his hit, “Nuthin but a ‘G’ Thang” (and yes, “The Chronic” is one of the greatest rap albums of all time):
Now it's time for me to make my impression felt
So sit back, relax, and strap on your seatbelt
You never been on a ride like this before
With a producer who can rap and control the maestro
We got you.
Let’s ride.
