Project Overview

A grand opportunity to redesign and develop the digital destination of one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks - Grand Central Terminal. Manual Labor helped to reimagine what a beautiful yet intuitive website could be that marries the importance of what GCT does for hundreds of thousands of people every day. We prioritized clear user journeys, and accessible design; creating an experience that reflected the diversity and impact of the physical space.

Working with Grand Central Terminal, Sound Color Story and Jones Lang LaSalle Americas was more than a project. It was an opportunity to shape one of New York City’s most iconic institutions and deliver a digital experience that captures the feeling of that first step under the celestial ceiling at the first click.

As their digital marketing partner, we built a journey that delivered the clarity of “meet me at the clock” with an awe-inspiring experience of a walking under the century-old electric chandeliers. is a vital tool for providing information and services to your customers, as well as delivering a brand experience that lives up to its history and reputation.

Stop and stay a while

From the arched windows to the passageways and through the front door, light has always led the way at Grand Central Terminal as it did here.

This destination served multiple audiences, delivering an experience that informed commuters, delighted visitors, and inspired partners, all in hopes that they would stop and stay awhile.

What does the ceiling see?

We explored viewpoints to create a unique ownable extension to the Grand Central Terminal web design system using abstracted representations of commuter pathways.
